Position: Summer Student
Location: On farm near Hepburn, Saskatchewan
Le John Farms is a fourth-generation family farm, and we grow, process and retail pedigreed seed. Our farm is located approximately 25 minutes north-west of Saskatoon and our seed cleaning facility is located north of Martensville, along Hwy 12.
We plan to hire 1-2 summer students this season from either high school or post secondary. Summer students will get hands-on experience with day-to-day operations of a grain and seed farm in Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities:
Following on farm safety protocols
Helping the farm crew with general farm work
Cleaning, equipment maintenance and repair, washing
Field work (operating equipment)
Yard work (mowing, tree trimming, clean-up)
Checking livestock, maintenance of fencing and livestock handling facilities
Assisting with grain movement and seed pick-ups
Follow cleaning procedures for trucks and equipment to prevent contamination of seed
Helping with operation and maintenance of irrigation system
Qualifications:
Detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
Ability to work both independently and in a team
Good communication and organizational skills
Class 5 license is mandatory, Class 1 license is an asset
Must be able to lift 55 lbs
Agricultural background is an asset but not a requirement
Prior experience working on a grain or livestock farm an asset but not required
Prior experience operating equipment an asset but not required
Able to work in a physically demanding environment
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Willing to work longer days during the busy times (seeding, spraying, harvest)
We are flexible with dates – summer students would plan to start as early as March depending on availability and stay as late as the end of October. Please include what you are looking for as far as timeline in your application.

Responsibilities:
Following on farm safety protocols
Operating farm equipment (land rolling, mowing, tillage work, seeding, spraying, harvesting equipment, various trucking and hauling, operating forklift etc.)
Equipment cleaning, maintenance and repair
Moving seed/grain including loading/unloading trucks
Following cleaning procedures for trucks and equipment to prevent contamination of seed
Various yard duties (cleaning shops, yard, bins, etc.)
Assisting with construction projects
Qualifications:
Prior experience in operation of farm or heavy equipment a requirement
Agricultural background is an asset but not a requirement
Detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
Ability to work both independently and in a team
Good communication and organizational skills
Willing to work longer days during the busy season
High School Diploma or higher education
A skilled trade is an asset
Class 5 license is mandatory, Class 1 license an asset
Must be able to lift 55 lbs
Friendly, patient & courteous to customers
Longer days are needed at busy times (seeding, spraying and harvest) but the seasonal nature of the business provides flexibility. We are looking for someone willing to work on a rotating shift during seeding, spraying and harvest.
We are willing to train the right person. We offer competitive wages and flexibility.

Position: Class 1A Driver
Location: On farm near Hepburn, Saskatchewan

Responsibilities:
Following farm safety protocols
Operating semi trucks with a variety of trailers (super-B grain, tri-axle grain, and flat deck trailers)
Following cleaning protocol for trucks and equipment to prevent contamination of seed
Moving grain/seed between field, bin yards, cleaning plant and elevator
Hauling seed to drill in fields
Hauling water to sprayer in fields
Setting up and taking down of unloading conveyors and augers
Sampling of product
Weighing trucks
Qualifications:
Class 1A licence
Farm/agricultural experience
Detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
Ability to work both independently and in a team
Good communication and organizational skills
Diligent in record keeping and paperwork with attention to detail
