Position: Agro Summer Student
Location: Foundation Seeds, near Hepburn, Saskatchewan

Foundation Seeds is a fourth-generation family farm, and we grow, process and retail pedigreed seed. Our farm is located approximately 25 minutes north-west of Saskatoon and our seed cleaning facility is located north of Martensville, along Hwy 12.

We plan to hire 1-2 summer students this season from post secondary. Summer students will get hands-on experience with what is involved in seed production in Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting with crop input and seed retail activities

• Maintaining a safe and compliant working environment

• Assisting with scouting crops for weeds, disease and insects

• Performing customer service activities

• Helping to organize summer tour

• Assisting with plots and trial data collection

• Basic yard and seed plant cleaning & maintenance

• Assisting with shipping and receiving of pedigreed seed

• Recordkeeping and paperwork for seed cleaning & seed shipping

• Following cleaning protocol for equipment to prevent contamination of seed

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an agriculture or related program at a post-secondary level

• Detail-oriented, with a strong work ethic and positive attitude

• Diligent in record keeping and paperwork

• Ability to work both independently and in a team

• Good communication and organizational skills

• Friendly, patient & courteous to customers

• Class 5 license is mandatory

• Must be able to lift 55 lbs

• Agricultural background is an asset but not a requirement

• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Willing to work longer days during the busy times (seeding, spraying and harvest)
