W H E A T V A R I E T I E S “With all the options out there, it can be hard to decide which wheat varieties will work on your farm. These are the varieties we’ve liked the best. AAC Viewfield is a favorite with its short straw, making combining smooth and keeping bushels per hour high. AAC Starbuck VB is also at the top of our list, offering easy threshing, moderate Fusarium resistance, and consistently strong yields. AAC Wheatland VB stands even better than AAC Starbuck VB, holds grade well, and like AAC Starbuck VB, is also midge tolerant. AAC Spike shows promise with improved straw strength, and AAC Westking impressed this year with easy threshing, high bushels, and top-notch quality—keep an eye on it for 2026! AAC Penhold is another reliable choice. It stands almost perfectly every season making it easy to combine as it’s the shortest variety available (swathing not recommended!). The CWSWS varieties—AC Sadash VB (midge tolerance) and AC Andrew (shorter straw for higher throughput)—both offer solid yield and standability. Our durum varieties also perform well, providing good grade retention & sprouting ratings. AAC Stronghold has slightly better standability, while AAC Donlow’s higher Fusarium resistance helps keep DON levels lower in tougher years.” — Jon's Takeaway on Wheat HARD RED SPRING CPS RED SOFT WHITE SPRING DURUM HARD RED WINTER Source: SaskSeed® Guide & Foundation Seeds
